Wednesday, May 27th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments

Many Americans enjoy camping. It is the kind of family outing that people have enjoyed for many, many years. Particularly these days when many people are having trouble financially, it is a wonderful and cheap way to take your family on a vacation and one that will provide everyone with great memories. The best camping trips result from those people that prepare the best. There are several things to think of ahead of time such as the different types of rain gear in the event of bad weather or to have a First aid kit or First aid kits available in the event that someone getssick or injured. These are all things that will be mentioned in this article.

The initial thing to decide is what type of camper are you? Do you want to camp with a RV or is a tent what youprefer? Once that is determined, find the location of a campground that will accommodateallow either a RV hook-up or a campground suitable for setting up a tent. Many campgrounds require reservations so plan ahead as soon as you know when you want to go camping.

Theoptimal way to plan what topack for camping is to create a list. Then as youbegin packing for the trip you can just check everythingall of the items off of the list to ensure you have packed it. Categorize your list in different sections such as shelter, food, food related items, sleeping items, cooking and fire supplies, cleaning, and personal safety and first aid products. Write down all of the items that you can imagine you will need. Think of what you need during a usual day at home. Things like a wash tub and dish soap are often forgotten when going camping but how else will you clean your dishes? Depending on how experienced and outdoorsy of a camper you are, you may either have an inflatable mattress with sheets, pillows and blankets or simply a sleeping bag on the ground will do. These are all thingsto think about to make your trip a successful one. Another thing to remember is whether your campsite will be accessible by vehicle or if you have to hike into it. This could really determinedecide how many things you can pack, obviously. Good meal planning is also a good way to camp. If you just packa variety of food without planning you will be disappointed. If you aretraveling with another family, choose which meals to make for everyone then you will not have to cook or make every meal.
In addition to all of the basic necessities of food, type of shelter etc, the most critical item to plan for is your safety. Always [pack|bring} one first aid kit or even several first aid kits to ensure your family can be helped in case of a minor skinned knee or a possible run-in with an animal that wandered too close to your campground. Sunburn, bug bites and skin rashes due to plants are also common while camping so pack things for that in your first aid kit.
